KESC – Kill Electric Supply & Consumers

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: July 9, 2009

On Thursday morning the 9th of July 2009, when I was preparing to leave for my office around 7 am KESC wished me good morning in its traditional style, with a power failure. It came as surprise to me cause usually we do not experience power outages at that hour. Lucky for me that I had prepared my clothes and other things in the night, so KESC was not successfully in getting me out of wits.

I was thinking how lucky I was to have escaped and at the same time also felt bad for the people of my area, who due to the power outage at this hour will not be able to make it to their offices either on time or in proper dressing. I left for my office with no power at my home, thinking that at least now I will get some power at night.

But I forgot that KESC spares no one, so how can I be any different. KESC had gone mad as it had failed in driving me crazy like so many others by the early power outage. So it sought to take revenge and when the power supply resumed numerous high voltage shock waves were sent, blowing up many appliances and stabilizers and thus taking its revenge not only on me but my entire family. If you want proof, this is just the beginning:

So now KESC has succeeded in making me mad. And now I want KESC to make good all the losses that we and the entire area has suffered and also we need a written guarantee from KESC, that shuch an incident will not take place again other wise all the loss will be on KESC and it will be the liability of the KESC to make good all the damage that has been caused.

I would like the media to give this issue a proper coverage. I would like people from GEO TV, AAJ TV, Samaa TV, NEWS One, etc to please come forward and do a proper investigation as to how the incident took place and what are the guarantees that it will never happen again.

Also I would also be seeking advice from everyone on what sort of legal action can be taken in this regard against the KESC. All of you are always welcome to contact me at any time.

The reason I am putting so much emphasis on it is that KESC is now under the management of an international organization and incidents like these should not be tolerated at any cost what so ever. If others have experinced something similar please share it here.

Stand Up for the T20 World Champions – Pakistan

T20 World Champions - Team Pakistan

T20 World Champions - Team Pakistan

This is the team that has defied all odds and has finally brought the T20 World Cup home, to a country where the law and order situation was not looking good, to a country where the future of cricket was looking dull, to a country that is fighting a war to protect the rest of the world. At a time when international teams were not prepared to come to Pakistan, and India playing the role of arch nemesis and wanted to end Cricket from Pakistan. Pakistan as on countless other occasions in history has proved everyone wrong and have brought the T20 World Cup.

How fitting that they not only brought the cup home, but brought it home after snatching it from the Indians, who were on cloud 9 even before the World Cup had started. Pakistanis were being considered as under-dogs and were being thought of being among the teams who loose out in the early stages, but Younis Khan proved everyone wrong. With one do or die match after the other the team proved again and again that they were ready to handle the pressure and that they were all set to lift the cup. Remember the cornered tiger sppech made by Imran Khan in World Cup 1992, if you do not then just check the speech below.

As the great Khan said “A cornered tiger is at its dangerous”. The do or die games brought out the cornered tiger and not only brought it out but made it consistent. The year was 1992, The Coach was Intekhab Alam, The Captain was Imran KHAN, The cup was the World Cup, the team was being regarded as under-dog and the team bought it it home. And now the year is 2009, the Coach is Intekhab Alam, The Captain is Younis KHAN, the cup is the T20 World Cup, the team was being regarded as under-dog and the team bought it it home. After 17 long years Pakistan are again the World Champions.

The team has not only brought the cup home, but also a great deal of pride with it as well. Some other highlights of this win are as follows:

  • Pakistan has shown the Indians what happens when you try to mess with the Nation and the Nation’s Game. :)
  • Pakistan have not only become the T20 World Champions, but have become the World Champions, taking the title away from the Indians.
  • Pakistan have shown that South Africans are indeed chokers, defeating a team that had been unbeaten in the entire tournament.
  • Pakistan proved that they can beat South Africa in a world cup and thus dismissing the myth.
  • Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the Final, another team that was unbeaten in the entire tournament.
  • Pakistan has made up for the loss incurred at the same ground in the Final of the World Cup 1999 against Australia, ten years ago.
  • This win is being viewed as the best gift for the Nation after the Nuclear Blasts in May 1998.
  • This win has played an important part in rejoicing the Nation and will help in gelling together, just like the team in the World Cup.

In  the end all that is left to be said is, Many thanks to Almighty Allah, Long live Pakistan, Long live the People of Pakistan, Long Live the Armed Forces of Pakistan. May Pakistan play the same role in the Muslim World as it currently plays in T20 Cricket. May Pakistan gel togather all the Muslim Countries (states) and lead to the real path of success. Aameen. Pakistan Zindabad Pakistan Paindabad.

Pakistan vs. S.Africa in the Semis

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: June 17, 2009

In this article we will analyze of what to expect in the World Cup T20 2009 semi final that will be played between Pakistan and South Africa. The match will be played on the 18th of June 2009 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The match is scheduled to begin at 16:30 GMT (10:30 PM). So, I think that is more than enough of the numbers :) .

For me this is going to be Pakistan’s toughest challenge so far in the tournament. They will be up against the un-beaten South Africans, a team firing at all cylinders. A team being led by Smith very well. So far all their plans have worked. They have made plans and stuck to them and modified according to situations. South Africa posses a good batting line up, which one can easily say has not shown its true potential up till now, apart from the warm up game against Pakistan. The surprise is the variety in their bowling. South Africans were known for their fiery and accurate pace attack but as seen so far that pace attack is being complemented very well by spin (slow) bowling. Against major teams their batting may not have been all that great but their has more than just made up for it.

Pakistan on the other hand have shown that their bowling is getting better and better, but is still not up to the quality which is usually expected of them. The honorable mentions are of course in order as follows: Umer Gul (leading wicket taker in the tournament), Saeed Ajmal (among the top 3 wicket takers), Muhammad Aamir (has shown a lot of talent and promise), Shahid Afridi. The Pakistani bowling attack is capable of bringing any opponent to its knees on any given day, whether it is at its best or not. Another positive that can be seen is the Pakistan ground fielding that has been quite exceptional through out the Super 8’s. The fielders have backed up the bowlers quite well making the bowling attack ever more lethal.

With all that said people must be thinking that Pakistan has a great chance of winning, but we have not yet come to the Pakistani batting, which has been below average though out the tournament, the only batsmen that deserve a mention here are Kamran Akmal and Younis Khan, but even these two have not shown the consistency that is required. When it comes to chasing things are worse. Big names like Misbah-ul-Haq and Shoaib Malik has not delivered so far. People might argue on Shoib Mailk’s name being in the previous list, but if you look at things closely you will see that since captaincey has been taken away from him he has steered Pakistan towards defeat more times then victory. This is emminent from the Australia series, the remarks made by Abdul Qadir, the run chases where Shoib Malik should have played a main role. The above is not only limited to his batting you can see the same sort of things during his bowling, not bowling to his field and stuff like that.

The other thing that can serve as a disadvantage is the venue. South Africa have played quite a few matches at Trentbridge where as Pakistan has not played a single game at Trentbridge. So South Africa will feel like they are at home where Pakistan will have to maake new strategies and plan accordingly. One important secret of success will be keeping the plans for the semi-final just to the dressing room and not let it be known before its shown.

So it comes down to this Pakaistan if they bat out of their skins and bowl and field like they did against the Irish team will win the semi-final with comfort and ease. But it is not going to be easy as they have not been able to do it so far and the South African bowling is almost as good as Pakistan, if not better. Big names need to set aside differences and need to fire. The chances of Pakistan are likely to increase if they bat first.

Facebook Username

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: June 13, 2009

As of today Facebook has added the functionality of users being able to select usernames. The immediate benefits of this are:

  • Users will be able to direct their friends to their profile in:
    • a more direct and easy manner
    • Profile links can now be shared verbally
  • Facebook was nagging behind in this are when compared with other social networking services like LinkedIn and MySpace, which already allow their users to share their profiles in the above manner.

So hurry up and get your username, before its taken up by someone else. To select a username for Facebook visit: http://www.facebook.com/username/

The good thing about Facebook usernames are that they allow you to have  periods (.) in the username and the suggested usernames are also very good.

Now since Orkut is trying to memic Facebook, we may see the username feature being implemented on Orkut as well in some time (just a guess, do not bet on it).

Pakistan is looking for Pakistanis 2

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: May 13, 2009

Our Army is the best in the world and Allah and Islam are our only saviour. Nothing is wrong with Pakistan, that we can not mend as we are the ones that have made Pakistan what it is today. Now we have to work its betterment. Deserting the country or keeping quite will not help. It is this behaviour that has Pakistan what it is today.

What should we do to make Pakistan not just a better place but the best place in the whole world, lets have a look at the following points:

  • We took Pakistan in the name of Allah and Islam (Two Nation Theory).
  • The further we are going from Islam, the closer we are coming towards destruction, sanctions and every problem that we see around us.
  • We see that Iran is playing a better role than the rest of the Muslim World.
  • It is the Islamic Revolution in Iran that has made it what it is today.
  • We need something similar in Pakistan.
  • We have no other place to go.
  • We took this land in the name of Allah.
  • It is an obligation on us to restore Islam in its true essence in this land
  • That to me is the only way.

Pakistan is looking for Pakistanis

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: April 28, 2009

The above four videos provide a diferent face of our beloved Pakistan. This face of Pakistan is being hidden from the people based on a well planned agenda, by all forms of media, not only international media but our own media. Our people have never learnt anything from history. whether its 1971 or the past of any government. The problem is not Pakistan or the problem is not with Pakistan.

The problem is with Pakistanis. All of us (leaving only a few) from the highest to the lowest level are only thinking about our own selves and not the country. The problem is we are not ready to change and happy in following orders. When I say the above I point at the common people. It’s Allah’s word that the people placed upon you as your rulers will be in accordance to your doings.

That is what has been, so why are we complaining that all Pakistan needs is a good and sincare leader. If we want to rectify thatthe we just have to become good and sincare to our ownsleves thats all. This can mean different things to different people. Like for Muslims it could mean to practice the true essence of Islam, for others it could mean to be fair and just in their dealings. Pakistan will become what ever Pakistanis will make it and thats all. Its up to the people to make a nation. The people wanted the Chief Justice to be restored, he got restored. People want fair, commited and capable system they can also get it, cause nothing is too big in front of the power of the people. I read a proverb back in school days, The voice of the people is the voice of God.

So what do want our voice to be Pakistan is breaking up or No matter what we are with Pakistan in all good and bad. I will not let the media succed in its attempt. I will make my voice heard on all forums available. We took Pakistan in the name of Islam and its our duty to protect it for Islam

Suggestions to Prevent ATM Robberies

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: March 29, 2009

In the past week I saw two clips of robbries at two ATM’s of Bank Al-Falah at Karachi. Seeing the clips I became very dishearted and sad, got forced in to thinking what kind of a society we are living in. I am attaching the two videos in article so the readers can watch and better understand the situation I am trying to address.

I hope that after seeing the above two clips people will definatly understand the challenge that I am trying to point at. These people (robbers) are openly challenging the security agencies. And no matter if anyone agrees with me or not, but it is the responsibility of every nation to provide security to its citizens.

Now people reading this article will have the question, but what can be done. To be honest I myself do not know whats the best solution butI have a few suggestions and other security measures that can reduce this crime if not completelt eliminate it. The suggestions that I am proposing below have been divided in to two types, which are as follows:

  • What we can do Personally
    • Never go to an ATM alone, specially at night time
    • Take one or two people with you that you trust, like relatives and friends.
    • Ask them to stand outside the ATM while you make the transactions inside.
    • Before going inside the ATM Facility, take a good look around to see any suspicious characters.
    • If you feel any kind of uncertainty avoid using the ATM
    • Avoid using ATM’s after 8 in the night, unless very urgent or important.
    • Always try to use an ATM that is in the hustle bustle of a market place
  • What the Government can do
    • The Government can order banks to provide security outside every ATM.
    • If the security costs too much, then it can be for a limited period of time like from 8 am to 8 pm
    • Make a system using which the user can restrict any further transactions for that day and it cannot be overridden before the day is over
    • Give the right of shoot at sight to the security agencies for such criminals, this step will shake the confidence of such people.
    • As another measure, there can be bullet proof doors that can be locked from the inside of an ATM, so the user may locak them while performing the transaction and can unlock to leave he feels safe and certain.

I personally feel that the Government cannot do much more than this in the above situation. It is primarily up to us to take all possible security measures. But you are free to provide your comments, views and suggestions that may help in this regard. We can help compile a list of ATM’s that can be said safe.  Hope you like the effort. Looking forward to your suggestions and comments. Take good care of yourself and the people around you and may Allah protect us all from such robberies, Aameen.

A Fairy’s Tale

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: March 12, 2009

We usually read or tell fairy tales, but here I am going to (write) tell you a fariy’s tale. There are many people we come across in life and very few are amongst those that leave unforgettable, eternal impressions of happiness and joys on our life. The people that do so are no less than angels or fairies for us at least for me they are.

Like real faries, she has always been with me. From the time of my school I used hear her name with little or no hope of ever seeing her. Times passed, with her name becoming permanently carved in my memory and ever diminished hope of seeing her. After school I joined college as the next step of my education and continued on.

After college it was time for Bachelors studies and on the first day at the university, I heard that name again whose impressions were the only remains of it in the memory due to the sands of time that had passed, but those imprssions were more than enough.

It had been EIGHT long years,  since I had last heard that name. I was not sure it was just another person or the Fairy that I knew. I had an internal feeling that she was the Fairy, but had no way to confirm it. Some time passed and the use of modern technology helped me confirm what I already knew.

She had always been with me. It was like we had been following different paths to the same destination and had finally met each other upon reaching the destination. Once we had met, it did not take much time to catch up on the past. This time she really played the role of a true Fairy, protecting me from harm, taking care of me, praying for me. I am thankful to her for all that she has done for me and will always remain thankful, no matter what. I will always be there for her.

This Fairy is now my sister so that this time there is no separating us. And this is the tale of this Fairy. It is not just a tale, but an acknowledgment of her kind deeds, soft and sweet words, caring efforts, efforts to bring joy and happiness, efforts to make this world a better place for the people around, efforts of hiding her own tears while sweeping others tears. Also not forgetting what an excellent photographer she is and how she recognizes the hidden beauty in each scene. Just see a routine sample of her work, below:

This is also to mark her Birthday. I wish her a very very Happy Birthday. All my prayers as always are with my sister and may she see all the joys and happiness that she desires for. May you see countless more birthdays each packed with all the joys that you wish and pray for.

Take care and Live Long :D

Let the World know What YOU Think

Posted by: Muhammad Ammad Saleem on: December 20, 2008

I was sitting in my lounge watching the news and all of a sudden a thought came in to my mind that no one cares what I think about whats going around me. No one is asking what I have to say. The world is busy in its own.

Like everyone I also feel that what I have to say is important and can make this world a better place.

Then came a thought in my mind how to make the people out there in the world hear what I have to say with the minimum of effort possible.

How else to blog about and blogging is just one way, there are countless others out there we just have to get our head down and look for ways.  I will discuss some of the ways below:

  • Blogging
    • Blogging is the simplest thing if you want to the world to know what you think about something just write an article about it on your blog.
    • Then simply distribute the link.
      • You can email them to your friends
      • Place the link in the status of your messenger like MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, etc.
      • Put them in what you are doing now fields of social networking sites like Orkut, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc
      • You can also make the link of your blog a part of your email signature.
    • Now you must be thinking how to get your own blog up and running.

We are living in an information age and its our duty to share what ever information we can share. If you have any problems in setting up your blog you are allowed to post your questions here.

“As long as you have a Why, you can live with any What and any How”

  • Haris Gulzar: Thats sad indeed. Why don't you try getting it published in a newspaper. Just email it to the editor of some newspaper. You'll have to try a bit hard
  • Arjumand: A must-read article and the main cause of the electricity problem: http://www.khilafah.com/index.php/activism/asia/6809-the-electricity-crisis-in-k
  • Farheen: Really Sad to see such incident.. you are Very right.. go ahead man (Y)
